Manufacturer Return Policies

All manufacturer policies are subject to change without notice.

For your reference, Ingram Micro provides a Manufacturer Return Policies list to download. Policies are updated frequently, so for the most up-to-date information, bookmark this page and ensure you have the most recent guidelines.

The Ingram Micro Manufacturer Return Policies are for informational purposes only. Ingram Micro is not liable for any changes made to these forms once they have been downloaded and/or printed.

Ingram Micro Standard Return Policy

Ingram Micro's Standard Return Policy represents the number of days Ingram Micro will honor returns based on manufacturer restrictions that differ from Ingram Micro's own standard restrictions. In addition, the allowable percentage of returns is based on the look-back days.

Ingram Micro Standard Return Policy is divided into two categories:

This product is unopened, unused and can be resold as new. Products must be in resalable condition (without price tags, clean, undamaged, unused, unopened and complete in the original manufacturer packaging. All products deemed not in stock balance condition will be returned to customers at their expense.


Returns Management Portal

Ingram Micro is ready to assist you with any post-sales issues, including lost shipments, short shipments, damaged shipments, billing errors, stock balancing, defective product replacement, and shipping errors.

Our Returns Management Portal allows you to quickly and efficiently initiate a claim or request a return of merchandise. The benefits include:

  • Ability to attach supporting documents
  • Request a shipping label for eligible RMAs
  • Immediate response

You must obtain an RMA (Returns Merchandise Authorization) number prior to returning product. RMA numbers are only valid for 20 days from issuance.


RMA Criteria

You can return products to Ingram Micro purchased from us within the previous 90 days provided the following criteria are met:

  • Due to restrictions set by manufacturers, some vendors deviate from Ingram Micro's standard Stock Balance policy.
  • You do not currently have Stock Balance returns in excess of 15 percent of your previous 90 days' purchases. The percentage is calculated within each manufacturer code. One manufacturer may have multiple codes.
  • The price on a Factory Sealed Stock Balance return will be the lower of either the reseller's last invoice price or current selling price.
  • Prior to shipping, you requested and received an RMA number from Ingram Micro Customer Service
  • Ingram Micro RMA numbers will expire after 20 calendar days from issuance. Any product(s) received after the Ingram Micro RMA number expires will be considered as overgoods.
  • Your account is current.
  • The product is in resalable condition and is not damaged. Please see our Overgoods section for more information.
  • The product is returned in its original manufacturer's packaging. Unauthorized products will be considered as overgoods.
  • You return the product freight-prepaid.
  • Stock balancing return is within the manufacturer's warranty policies; e.g., mass storage and memory products must be returned within 30 days of purchase to be eligible for stock balancing

Shipping Requirements

Please take care in shipping product back to Ingram Micro. Returned cartons that do not meet the following conditions will be returned to you with a $50 processing fee and return freight charged to your account:

  • Product must be unused.
  • Product must be complete and in manufacturer's original packaging, with no visible damage (e.g. rips, tears, compressions, holes or dents).
  • Product box must not be Re-Taped.
  • All seals and packaging tape of manufacturers' packaging must be unbroken.
  • There must be no markings or writing on manufacturer's packaging.
  • There must be no stickers, other than the shipping label, on manufacturer's packaging.
  • If a carton is shrink-wrapped, a shipping label must be on the shrink-wrap and the top of the carton.
  • All product, including the manufacturer carton(s), must be packed into an additional shipping carton (Overbox your Product) to help prevent damage while in transit.
  • The RMA number must appear on the shipping label only, not on or inside the carton. Any carton received without an RMA number on the shipping label will be returned to the customer.
  • To ensure proper identification of your RMA #, please place the RMA # in the following format on your shipping label: RMA #XX-XXXXX. Missing or transposed digits render an RMA # invalid.
  • The RMA must reach our warehouse within 20 calendar days of the RMA date, or the carton will be returned to the customer.
  • Merchandise must be secured with proper packaging to prevent any damage in transit

If all criteria are met, Ingram Micro will issue a credit memo to your account. Stock Balance credit memos will be issued for cost of product in the amount of your most recent purchase price or the current selling price, whichever is lower, and can be applied to future purchases.

This product will not operate or is dead on arrival (D.O.A.). Incompatible product is not defective or D.O.A. Ingram Micro tests defective and D.O.A products. Any product deemed not defective or D.O.A. will be returned to customers at their expense.

Packaging Returns

  • Reference the Ingram Micro RMA Number on the shipping label only.
  • Return the product in original packaging and all documents and components. Failure to do so may result in that product being returned to you.
  • Do not write on the manufacturer’s box. Writing on the manufacturer’s box will deem the product as non-resalable and the product will be returned to you.

Return Requirements

Products purchased from Ingram Micro within the previous 45 days may be returned provided the following criteria are met:

  • You do not have defective returns in excess of 15% of your previous 90 days' purchases. The 15% is calculated within each manufacturer code. One manufacturer can have more than one manufacturer code.
  • Due to restrictions set by manufacturers, some manufacturers deviate from from Ingram Micro's standard defective return policy.
  • The validity period during which all RMAs will remain open is 20 days from the date Ingram Micro issues the RMA. You must allow for in-transit time for the product to be returned to Ingram Micro, as Ingram Micro must physically receive products within the 20 calendar days.

Manufacturer Policies

Some manufacturers require that all defective and DOA products be returned directly to them, or they may limit the timerame in which you can return products.

Key To Manufacturer Policies

  • Manufacturer Number 
    Contains four-digit numbers that identify a manufacturer's specific product line with Ingram Micro. One manufacturer can have multiple manufacturer numbers and/or product lines.
  • Manufacturer Name 
    Identifies the manufacturer name and specific product line, if applicable.
  • Stock Balance Days/Percent 
    Displays two numbers separated by a slash. The first number indicates the number of days (from purchase history) a product is returnable within stock balance guidelines. The second number indicates the percentage amount allowable to return as a Stock Balance for that specific manufacturer number.
  • Defective Days/Percent 
    Displays two numbers separated by a slash. The first number indicates the number of days (from purchase history) a product is returnable within defective guidelines. The second number indicates the percentage amount allowable to return as defective for that specific manufacturer number.
  • Manufacturer's Phone Number 
    Manufacturer's phone number to contact the manufacturer directly.
